... Can't say I understand any of the other reviewers when they complain about a 'loud' vacuum. Basically the definition of a powerful vacuum results in noise generation.
Anyway, I purchased this vacuum from Amazon back in 2005. It did a year's service of carpets before being packed up and shipped to another state for hardwood floor work (not as much as the carpet, obviously). Now I use it on carpet, hardwood, and as a shopvac. This thing won't quit.
But it does require maintenance. The rollers absorb hair readily and I imagine this puts strain on the motor. So I clean them out after every use (hence 4, not 5 stars). Besides that, the vac is bomb proof. ...
