Hoover 40325032 Pet-Stain and Odor Remover with Trigger Spray Bottle, 32 Ounces

Unfortunately, I have 5 cats that throw up quite a bit. Sometimes I feel like I'm awash in it. Yuck. Anyway, I have a Hoover steam carpet cleaner that I use. I just let this pre-treater soak in for a few minutes and then use the steam cleaner - and the stain is gone.

Can't ask for anything better.

Hoover BH50015 Platinum Collection LINX Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

This product does exactly what it was intended to do. It sucks up dust, dirt, and minor debris; and it does it well. The balance is perfect in your hand; the snout is fairly long for getting into tight places, it has powerful suction, the battery lasts long, the charger is first class and lets you know when it is done, the battery indicator lets you know how much longer you can use the vac before recharge, and it has a built-in brush. That merits 5 stars.

There are two minor cons that don't measure up to the 5-star level. When the brush is rotated and slid/snapped out into working position, it does not stayed extended out if you push hard on the surface being vacuumed. But, I don't think the designers intended that you use the brush to vacuum a carpet. It does work very well on computer keyboards, my cordless phone charging station, the back of my computer, and the nooks and crannies on my car dashboard. What I now do is to wrap a wide rubber band around the extended nozzle, just behind the brush. That works perfectly. The brush does not slide back from operating position, and I can do my whole car very successfully with no brush problems.

The second con is that when emptying the vac, the cannister rotates stiffly, so I hold the handle between my knees and use both hands to rotate the cannister to remove it. I suspect that after I empty the vac a number of times it will start to loosen a little, and it will be a one-hand job.

Every time I use this vacuum cleaner, the thought goes through my mind that Hoover must have assigned their most experienced product engineer to design it. The switch is in the perfect position. The perfect balance makes the unit feel light. The nozzle end just wants to hang down to the right position where you will be cleaning. You can see how much you have sucked up and when it is time to empty. The more expensive lithium ion battery charges quickly and does a lot of cleaning before becoming discharged.

If you can afford it, buy. You will not be disappointed.

Hoover 40311048 Deep-Cleansing Fragrance-Free Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 48 Ounces

We used this with our Hoover carpet cleaner. It did a great job getting up the stains and lingering cat urine odor in the carpet.

While it claims to be "fragrance-free," there is a slight odor. It's WAY better than anything deliberately perfumed, but I'm very sensitive to odors and chemicals, and it bothered me a little (slight headache). Still, it's the least offensive smelling product we've used. We'll keep using it.

Hoover U6436-900 TurboPower Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this machine a couple years ago to replace an Electrolux canister that worked but was quite old. I wanted an upright vac for ease of use on carpets, as well as something that would take up less storage space in my small house. I was disappointed from the very beginning, for several reasons:
1. This machine has mediocre suction - even when the bag is empty it doesn't come close to what I expected.
2. The attachments do not fit snugly, so I have to hold the extensions onto the hose as I am using them otherwise they don't stay in place. They are prone to come apart at any joint, so using 2 extensions and an attachment for hard floors is ridiculously impossible. It keeps coming apart.
3. The extensions - both of them - cracked within a couple months of purchase. Very poor quality.
4. The hand tool for carpeted stairs has a beater bar powered only by suction, so as the bag gets full the suction diminishes and the bar rotates slower and slower.
5. The machine is VERY loud and VERY heavy. I find it unmanageable on stairs, and need my husband to carry it up and down the stairs for me.
6. The operation of the self-propelled feature is very jerky.
7. When using the attachments, the hose is not long and the vacuum tends to tip over unless I either hold it with one hand while vacuuming with the other (and please refer back to point #2 - this becomes incredibly challenging) or turn the vacuum so it is being pulled forward, with the hose wrapped over the top, which results in less available hose length.

This is the first and last Hoover upright I will ever own.

Hoover 40307016 FloorMate Grout-Cleaning Solution, 16 Ounces

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I've had this vacuum for about a year now, and its worked perfectly so far, no issues whatsoever. I don't vacuum too often and so I guess the unit haven't really been subjected to heavy use, but still, I'm very pleased with how well its been running. All the features work, like the dirt finder light and the headlight that illuminates the floor ahead, and nothing has broken. The filter works pretty good, I don't notice any dust being emitted as I vacuum. The weight of it is pretty good too, I don't feel its unnecessarily heavy at all, and its easy to push around on my carpet (the typically apartment stuff, not high pile stuff that might make it a little tougher I suppose). The onboard tools are okay, but I prefer my Shark handheld unit for the stuff I might have to use the tools for. I've owned one other vacuum before that's a bagless one. It looked impressive when the filter is clean and the dirt holder is empty, but the filter clogs up quickly and I had to clean it almost every time I vacuum. Frankly, I'm really glad I don't have to bother with that anymore now that I got a 'regular' vacuum. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the Hoover.

Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I've had this sweeper less than a year and this morning it totally died after emitting a burning motor smell. It will not turn on. This is the end of a long line of problems with this sweeper. It weighs too much and is top heavy, always tipping over. The hose developed a tear at the junction and has had a series of duct tape repairs for months. The on/off switch broke when it was only a few months old and I've been forced to plug/unplug since then to use it. Very annoying. (I did take the handle apart and 'fix' the switch a few times but it didn't last. I'm no engineer but it looks like a ridiculous design in there - basically like a light switch that toggles off and on as the outer switch is moved up and down. The plastic 'finger' doing the toggling just wears out.) I've had a series of Hoover self propelled vacuums and the quality of this one was noticably poorer than that of its ancestors. The only positive thing I can say is it had good suction. I'm going to try a different brand this time around. And Hoover, if you're listening...stop the slide into cheap crap. Too many companies wrongly think that's the route to survival these days.

Hoover U57009RM ReConditioned Windtunnel Bagless Upright, Colors May Vary

Let me just start by saying the Hoover (when standing while vacuuming) does a decent job on carpets. When it comes to hardwood floor - the hard floor setting is weak. Further, the tools that come with are almost not worth the time. They can't pick up dust unless it's an inch from the mouth. Have to use a separate, older, canister, Hoover to get that job done. Very disappointed...

Hoover S3590 Duros Power Nozzle Canister Vacuum

I bought this Hoover b/c I had an old Hoover that worked great for a little over 10 years. It was sturdy and not flimsy. I also had a Kenmore Progressive that lasted only 6 years of light use. The hose broke off twice and decided wasn't worth repairing for the second time at $100 a clip. This new Hoover Duros is very flimsy, just feels cheaply made. The construction of this is very weak, it has only 2 big wheels so I find that it flips over constantly. The two attachment pieces are very small and are located on the handle of the vaccuum. Poor location they fall off constantly, the do not have a secure fit and are located in a spot that easily get knocked. Also while it does have a rug and floor setting, the sweeper is just too big to get into tight spots (under kitchen table, under cabinets) and the attachment pieces are tiny not meant for floor, but I use one for that anyways b/c the sauction is better on the hardwood or tile. I would say the sauction is good for the rug, but for the floor using the sweeper it does just an ok job. Fortunately, I only spent $140 on it vs. $300 for the Kenmore, so I guess it was probably priced right, only 1/2 as good as the Kenmore. So while I was not pleased with my Kenmore Progressive breaking twice, it is definitely a better more sturdy vaccuum. I actually miss it.

I was not totally surprised how well this product performed because my daughter in Florida owns one and used it while I visited her home. In the past 30 yrs. I've spent alot of money having a company out to clean my carpeting and could not afford to have the furniture cleaned because they charged twice as much than the carpeting. Now I can do it all myself and within 4 hrs. everything is dry and looking gorgeous!! I suggest you buy one this minute! You won't be sorry!

Hoover S1361 Portable Canister Vacuum

I bought this vacuum 14 months ago and it was a disappointment from the start. I was too lazy to bring it back to the store but I've finally given up on it. Now the power cord can no longer be pulled out of the machine so it's pretty much unusable. The main problems with are the following:
- Cheap plastic construction (e.g. wheels go flying off, pieces break, etc).
- Weak suction. (That's a pretty fundamental problem for a vacuum!)
- The hose, telescoping chrome wand and carpet/floor nozzle constantly separate. No matter how much force you use to attach them, the pieces pull apart constantly while vacuuming. It's very frustrating. More than once I've had to resist the urge to throw this contraption out the window.
My recommendation: spend a little more money and get a real vacuum cleaner.

Hoover U5780900 WindTunnel + Cyclonic Bagless HEPA Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this last year and have about given up on it. The biggest problem is cleaning out the vacuum after it's been used. The dirt goes everywhere. Basically I have to clean it in the sink. The HEPA filter needs to be rinsed out after I've used it for one floor, and then it has to dry for a day. The housekeeper says she can only use it 15 minutes and then it overheats and shuts off. Frankly, I'd rather have a bag on the vacuum now. It would probably pick up enough of the dirt around here.

Hoover F5918-900 SteamVac Spinscrub Pet

How do I love my Hoover SteamVac? Let me count the ways... This carpet cleaning machine is FANTASTIC. As soon as I got the SteamVac, I cleaned some incredibly filthy areas on beige carpet. One was a major stain in a high traffic area that someone trampled into the carpet, while bringing groceries in with wet and dirty shoes. The other was an old stain my daughter made from a spilled chocolate-soymilk smoothie that she didn't clean up properly because she was in a rush to go somewhere. The SteamVac cleaned both of these problem spots to such a respectable level that I won't be embarrased in front of company anymore. This is an older carpet, so it doesn't look brand new. But, that doesn't stop me from jumping for joy.

Incidentally, I don't use the expensive, petroleum-chemical-based carpet cleaning solutions. Instead, I use water and a little bit of the nontoxic 'Lemon' SimpleGreen in the solution tank. I also worked on problem spots with a toothbrush and a squirt bottle with a VERY diluted solution of dishsoap and water. Then, to eliminate soap residue, a final rinse over the whole shebang with a solution of plain vinegar and water. TIP: If you want to experiment with carpet-cleaning solutions yourself, just be sure you pick LOW-SUDSING products.

And, nobody beats AMAZON on price. Can I just say FREE SHIPPING? Incredible!

Hoover F5912900 TurboPower 5200 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge

We have used Stanley Steemer and Kiwi and were disappointed with our results. This steam cleaner works really well and our carpets look better than ever--despite two dogs and a two year-old. Sometimes I have a problem getting the seal right if I need to refill the tank. It also doesn't get out EVERYTHING. However, when I use it subsequent times on the same spot it often comes out. So for all of you debating if it's worth it, I would definitely say yes!

Hoover UH70015 Platinum Collection Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

well when we bought this vacuum we had High hopes, especially of the price. Let me start with the great part, More suction then any other vacuum we have ever owned. Brought out more dirt and dust then any vacuum we have ever owned. The dirt sensor is awesome, works just like described, usually by our doorways is the dirtiest and the sensor proves that.
Now for the bad. Size!!!!!! Too big, will not fit under our beds like all our other models that we have owned, even when you put it at the lowest setting it still will not fit. The extension is NOT long enough to do any vacuuming above shoulder height.
Would love to give it a 5 star ratings, but the two items that I mentioned are too important not to mark it down a star for each one. Would I buy it again? No, for the two reasons I mentioned, but Man the areas it does reach... Wow, what suction!!!

Hoover WindTunnel Bagged - Anniversary Edition

Always had Hoover and needed a replacement for an older model cannister. This looked great in the box. But when I tried using it, found it very difficult to maneuver around. The cannister does not roll over the cord. So, if it gets stuck you have to literally pick it up. Otherwise, great suction. Would also have like to have all parts stored in the body, but the design did not allow it.

Hoover UH30010COM Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Canister

I purchased this 2 weeks ago, so I haven't had it for long but I am very impressed with it so far. I have a dog and 2 cats, so getting all the pet hair is usually impossible. Not so with this vacuum!!! It has bristles on the edges that clean pet hair out of the baseboard corners perfectly, so I don't need to break out the attachments. Plus, the sides of the vacuum don't scuff my white trim like other vacuums have.

The suction is exceptional. It leaves NO pet hair behind! I've even tested the vacuumed carpet with a pet hair tape roller and come up with nothing. It leaves NO REMAINING HAIR in the berber carpet! Even when I get down and eyeball the carpet to see if there's any hair left, it's clean! It gets ALL of the hair.

I love that the attachments are on a separate unit...it makes it very easy to vacuum the hair off the couch and steps. Some people see this as a disadvantage, but I completely disagree. I think it's great. The suction on the attachment unit is also excellent. It is without a doubt the best suction I have ever seen on attachments.

Hoover H3044 FloorMate SpinScrub Wide-Path Hard-Floor Cleaner

I bought the original model of this and have not replaced it with the newer version, but I have to tell you, one of the best tool investments I've ever made. What convinced me it was worth the price:

My professional cleaning people had just scrubed my floors endlessly with back breaking good ol fashioned mopping when I spilled milk on the floor. I wiped it with a rag but still wanted that ooh so fresh and clean look so I broke out the floormate and figured, why not test the entire kitchen and see: Shokingly gray, filthy, dirty, slimy, grainy, gunky water poured out.

What reinforced my belief it was a great investment: I had my house remodeled. It included some serious, serious grinding, sanding, etc. which left my floors just covered in tiny little dirt particles. I thought I would sacrifice my Hoover just to get the stuff off the floor. It did an amazing job. The Hoover hasn't looked quite as clean since (those little tiny particles got stuck in places I just can't get to) but it still takes care of businss.

It really leaves floors so squeeky clean you could eat off them. No residue, no film. The solution is pricey but I like using it because it evaporates the remaining water so rapidly---particulary like this effect for my wood floors.

Highly, highly recommend it.

Only con: obviously can't reach into those crevices. STILL WORTH IT!

Hoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum

...This is the best cordless vac I have ever used period.
...Since it is cordless, and rather small and lightweight (compared to big heavy vacs), I actually USE it more than I do my other vac. The idea of getting out a vac, plugging it in and lugging it around the room is so unappealing... but this vac is so darn handy to keep in my broom closet and pop out daily.
...Prior to this I was using the Black & Decker Versapak vac (discontinued) but this is much stronger.
...I will get an extra battery and yes the price is high.
At least now I'm vacuuming regularly.

Hoover U5491900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

The Hoover Windtunnel has an awesome suction for a value-priced unit. I bought the vacuum for use in a 1400 sqft condo, and it's the perfect size. It works very well on carpet, and fairly well on tile or hardwood floors. The only concern that I have so far is that the belt broke after only about 2 hours of total use. However, I think that it was caused by a small area rug getting caught in the agitator brush within the first hour of use. The motor drive is only a thin rod that the belt sits on, so anything that stops the brush can result in belt damage. I've been carefull not to let that happen again, and haven't had to replace another belt yet. The dirt indicator light works well, because it shows dirt in high traffic areas, but very little in low use areas. The model I bought isn't self-propelled, but the agitator brush pulls it forward on carpet making it easy to handle, and the vacuum rolls easily on bare floors. I don't think that the self-propelled feature is needed. I'm impressed so far, it's a great value for the price.

Hoover S3765-040 WindTunnel Electronic Bagless Canister Vacuum

The first time I used the wind tunnel my nose felt like the clothse pins had been taken off. My breathing was much improved. Apparently the fine dust that before used to be re dispersed in the air was now trapped in the vacuum behind the two hepa filters. I slept well that night without the sinus congestion problems that were the norm before.

We have deep shag rugs that held loads of fine dust, now the hepa filters and the stronger suction of our new machine are removing this tenacious visitor.

A local contractor who cleans the court house told me his contract specifies the use of hepa vacuum filters. These filters are not a gimmick. They were developed to remove fine uranium dust from the air when working on nuclear bombs.

Since getting this vacuum I have purchased a hepa filter for my work shop vacuum.

I shopped around for the best vacuum deal and for the money, this is the best. It sucks. Which is a good thing. The only issue is you need to adjust the carpet level knob when going to a different length rug pile even if the change is small but this is easy enough to do. I like the fact that all switches and controls are foot operated (except the pile length knob), so there's not a lot of bending over. I read some reviews that complained about dust when emptying the hopper but that seems to be personal work habits. The trap door makes this easy and neat if you use some common sense. I paid $89 through Amazon and found the same machine at Target for &139. Now let's see if it lasts a few years.

Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum

You just can't beat the price to value ratio for this vacuum cleaner. I bought the vacuum cleaner 2 years ago and wanted a bagged upright. I had previously had a bagless unit, but hated emptying the canister because it would just get dust all over the place. The bag for the vacuum cleaner acts as both a bag and an air filter and every time you replace the bag, it's also like replacing a new air filter. That being said, I really don't feel any difference in air quality.

The only con to the unit is that the rollers don't stop spinning when you use the attachments. Since I hardly ever use the attachments, this is usually not an issue. People complain about how noisy the unit is, but it's a vacuum cleaner, so that was expected.

After 2 years of use, I found that the rollers stopped spinning when it hit the carpet. It would spin when the vacuum cleaner was off the carpet, but would stop when it hit the carpet. It took me a while to figure out that the belt was just stretched out too much, so after I replaced the belt, it was as good as new. You can get the belt on Amazon for really cheap assuming you have something else to buy to get the free super saver shipping. So if you run into this problem, the vacuum didn't break - it's just the belt.
